Victorian mahogany surround with fine carving and intricate brass inlay, complete with a pair of majolica figural tile panels of popular Dickensian characters made by Sherwin & Cotton. An early work by designer George Cartlidge, this pair are a precursor to his famous Emaux Ombrants tile portraits.
